River Kwai
Note: This trip was done in 1999 and was our first backpacker adventure. The girls were 6 and 8 years old,
Many people take a one-day trip from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi to see the famous bridge over the river Kwai and the war museum. The bridge was bombed in 1945 and was rebuilt later. Here you can go by train over the bridge and further on for some hours on the “death railway”.
Theme from The River KWAI
We decided to stay in this area at the river Kwai for a couple of nights and stayed at the River Kwai Jungle Rafts.
The rooms are small like boathouses and positioned in a row of rafts. This place is really worth a visit.
The whole foundation is taken care of by village people who belong to the “Mon” people. From the “Jungle Rafts” we took day-trips to narrow waterfalls and caves. Elephant rides are also popular.
After three very exciting days at River Kwai jungle rafts, we decided to take the train south to Hua Hin and Koh Samui.
