Bangkok’s Airport is welcoming you in typical Asian style!
Bangkok is a good starting point for the Asia journey. The capital town of Thailand has about 14 million citizens, is very chaotic and busy. Here you can stay a couple of days to visit the interesting temple areas.
There are about 400 temples just in Bangkok and about 30000 in the whole country.
The most famous one is Wat Phra Kaew and Grand Palace with Wat Pho which are in the same area (Wat = temple).

One popular sightseeing location is the floating market. We visited Damnoen Saduak in the Rajburi province. The market is located 100 km south west of Bangkok. Here you can buy clothes, fruits, vegetables, beautiful woodcarvings or just people watch.
King Cobra The Ancient City
The province of Samut Prakan is located about 30 km outside of Bangkok. There you will find one of the world’s largest outdoor museums Muang Boran – the Ancient City. The area is larger than 500 km2 and consists of copies of the most famous monuments in Thailand.
Some of them in natural size, some in smaller scale. Today there are 109 monuments in total.

Rotary International Convention 2015
In 2015 we went back to Bangkok for a Rotary International convention. It was nice to be back and discover what had changed in the city.
